Beefsteak with thyme butter and dried mushrooms

A simple dish perfect for surprising your family.

Ingredients

  • 25 g Dried mushrooms
  • 250 g Butter
For the Sauce
  • Watercress (to serve)
  • Olive oil to taste
  • 8 sirloin steaks
  • 2 Cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon Thyme leaves

Preparation Method

  1. Place the mushrooms in a bowl and cover with hot water, leave to stand for 20 to 30 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Put all the butter ingredients in a food processor, season with salt and pepper. Beat until well mixed. Put the mixture on a sheet of baking paper. Roll into a log/cylinder, wrap tightly and store in the fridge if using soon or in the freezer.
  3. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Grease both sides of the steaks with olive oil, season with salt and pepper. When the pan is hot cook the steaks for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until cooked to taste. Place on plates and let rest for a few minutes.
  4. Cut the butter into rounds and place on top of each steak. Serve with a watercress salad and home fries, if desired.
