The mill has been producing oils of excellence for over 118 years
It all began in 1898 in a small village in the Palisse region of France where Abel Paillard started his walnut oil production.
Observant and persistent, Abel becomes a master of this craft and for 30 years studies and tests various options and ways to achieve perfection when it comes to producing quality oil. The “Lapalisse” oil mill has preserved this skill pierced by Master Abel by producing excellent oils for over 118 years.
The mill’s reputation has been built around its excellent walnut oil production and the legacy is passed on by the same family from generation to generation. The mill proudly reaffirms its attachment to the ancestral knowledge of its founder. Today, it promotes respect for tradition and flavour with the aim of developing ranges of flavours where nature is a sign of elegance, dominating a gourmet direction that makes those who taste them travel back in time through an exceptional smell and taste.
With more than 35 references, including walnut, hazelnut, pistachio, almond and coconut, the Lapalisse mill works every day to guarantee consistent quality and safety by carrying out an analysis at each stage of manufacture. Fruity, full-bodied, delicate and, when called for, spicy, Lapalisse oils are a storehouse of flavours and nutritional benefits that can vary seasonings in almost any culinary association.
In 2022 the Lapalisse oil mill rediscovers its origins, rebranding its brand and changing its name to ABEL 1898, inspired by the name of Abel PAILLARD, founder of the company and the purchase of the first mill.
